Rooney: A pain in Spain!!!

This was coming. After his outburst during the England match a week back, he got himself sent off against the Yellow Submarines last night at Villareal. Fergie had leapt to Rooney's defense after the Nothern Ireland game, but this time around he thinks that Rooney would benefit as he matures through these experiences. Players like Rooney are hard to come by but with them come the temper which sometimes work as an asset while like last night sometimes lead to a downfall. All said and done I would have understood if he retaliated after a tackle and had commited a cynical foul. He did what Beckham had done at the World Cup a few years ago...lost his bearings completely...am sure you screamed 'what an idiot' as soon as he mocked the referee because you knew what was gonna happen then. Mr. Rooney - off you go please!!! And he could not have picked a better referee - its was Kim Nielson who had sent off Becks during that World Cup. Don't think he had an alternative actually. So while I am a huge fan, such idiocy is just not what you had wanted to see. So fortunately or otherwise, Man Utd kept their wins on Spanish soil to just one. Next stop is against Benfica at Old Trafford in a fortnight's time. Would Rooney be missed? I have a feeling he would be!
